सुखदुःखे समे कृत्वा लाभालाभौ जयाजयौ।
ततो युद्धाय युज्यस्व नैवं पापमवाप्स्यसि।।२-३८।।
सन्धि विग्रहः
सुख-दुःखे समे कृत्वा लाभ-अलाभौ जय-अजयौ।
ततः युद्धाय युज्यस्व न एवम् पापम् अवाप्स्यसि।।२-३८।।
श्लोकार्थः
सुख-दुःखे लाभ-अलाभौ जय-अजयौ समे कृत्वा ततः युद्धाय युज्यस्व।
एवम् पापम् न अवाप्स्यसि।
शब्दार्थः
2.38 सुख=happiness दुःखे=and distress समे=in equanimity कृत्वा=doing so लाभ-अलाभौ=both profit and loss जय-अजयौ=both victory and defeat ततः=therefore युद्धाय=for the sake of fightingयुज्यस्व=engage(fight) न=never एवम्=in this way पापम्=sinful reaction अवाप्स्यसि=you will gain
Meaning
2.38: Holding happiness and sorrow, profit and loss, victory and defeat alike, you will prepare to fight for the sake of fighting. By doing this, you will incur no sin.
